Descriptions

Grisaille is a very historical term centuries long which describes among other things, the under drawing of an oil painting. Many approaches to grisaille involve a system of values, a scale from light to dark or a gray scale. Instructors often use casts lit by artificial light and often spend a good deal of time with the setup - the way the light hits the casts, the nature of the shadow.
